Although I work with many modalities, underneath them it’s all one practice: listening closely to the body and following its own movement toward balance, rather than imposing on it. The approaches below are simply the different forms that listening takes. In any given session I draw on whichever ones meet what your body is ready for.
Meridian Therapy – Feeling for subtle changes in the body’s tissues and along the meridians to sense and settle areas of imbalance..
Teishin – A traditional Japanese tool that contacts the meridians through gentle surface touch rather than needles, settling and rebalancing the body.
Craniosacral Therapy – A gentle method that uses light touch to soothe the nervous system and to release tension throughout your body’s connective tissue network.
Engaging Vitality – A refined way of listening with the hands for the subtle motion and vitality in the tissues, sensing where things flow freely and where they’ve grown still, so that treatment can follow the body’s own lead.
Tuina and Shiatsu – Massage modalities that focus on relaxing and rebalancing the meridians and tissues, enhancing the body’s ability to breathe, heal and circulate more freely.
Neigong and Energy Work – Quiet, energy-based work that supports relaxation and the body’s own healing, drawing on the warmth and stillness of the hands.
Trigger Point Release – A soft-tissue treatment that helps release tense, painful knots in your muscles and fascia.
Guasha and Cupping – Gentle compression and suction methods that raise a temporary surface redness (sha) on the skin when used over areas of imbalance. Used to address muscle pain and improve circulation.
Myofascial Release – Focuses on releasing muscular shortness and tightness in the connective tissues that support your muscles.
Muscle Energy Techniques – A form of Osteopathic manual therapy that uses a muscle’s own energy in the form of gentle isometric contractions to relax and lengthen the muscle.
Strain-Counterstrain – A gentle manual therapy technique that uses passive body positioning to treat tender points.
Active and Passive ROM – Moving joints through range of motion with or without the help of the patient.
Kinesio Taping – Using flexible, stretchy tape to help change movement patterns and support muscles, joints, and ligaments.
Movement Homework and Lifestyle Recommendations – The best treatment outcomes tend to occur in patients that make healthy adjustments to their lifestyle. I coach patients towards a routine that encourages better sleep, stress reduction, and healthy activities that help the body to rebalance with the aim of recovery, increased vitality and longevity.
